I saw the "Bengali Detective' at the Denver Film Center last night. It will play during the Starz Denver Film Festival next month. It is a terrific film and I highly recommend you see it if you can.
It's a documentary that plays like a narrative/fiction film. It is also a little like the Rockford Files meets Saturday Night Fever in Kolkata(Calcutta). But it is much more than that. It features a real life private detective, his family and his detective agency - working cases - in modern day India. It is very human, funny, moving, sad and uplifting. What it is not, is 'Bollywood'.
See it if you get a chance, you won't be disappointed.
